Crit Juice is about a group of talented improv artists/actors/comedians who play D&D, but it's also a drinking game. Every session, the players imbibe a heroic, paragon, or epic amount of alcohol by taking drinks whenever the "Drinking Gods Rules" dictate they must drink. There are the four Golden Rules, and then there are additional Drinking Gods Rules which are submitted by listeners. Each session, the group rolls a d6 to determine how many extra Drinking Gods Rules are drawn from a deck of these listener submissions.

The list below describes the Drinking Gods Rules heard on the podcast so far. Each entry lists a name (if any), the rule, who submitted it, and which episodes that rule was in effect.

  • Golden Rule #1 - Take a drink whenever you roll initiative. As one of the Golden Rules, this always applies.
  • Golden Rule #2 - Take a drink whenever a player rolls a crit or crit fail on an attack roll. As one of the Golden Rules, this always applies.
  • Golden Rule #3 - Take a drink whenever a player uses an action point. As one of the Golden Rules, this always applies.
  • Golden Rule #4 - Take a drink whenever a player unlocks an Achievement. As one of the Golden Rules, this always applies.
  • "Alcohol: the Great Disinfectant. Drink whenever a condition is removed from yourself or an ally." Submitted by Dave from Fort Collins. Applied to session seventeen (Episode 53)
  • "Don't Make Me Drink Alone: Whenever Gub drinks from his flask, everyone else must drink with him." Submitted by @paleside. Applies to recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52)
  • "Drink every milestone (every two encounters)." Submitted by Abby Arcane. Applied to recording session 2 (Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8)
  • "Drink whenever the players get lost in a dungeon." Submitted by VindiKShawn. Applied to recording session 2 (Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8)
  • "Drink whenever you have to consult the rulebook." Submitted by Thomas R. Applied to recording session 2 (Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8)
  • Finish your drink because Brian McGrath is not at the session. This isn't a drinking rule exactly, but everyone did finish their drinks for this reason at the start of recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52).
  • "Finish your drink on an extended rest." Submitted by Abby Arcane. Applied to recording session 2 (Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8)
  • "Freaky Dice Day: drink when you roll a 13 on a d20. Then, select another player whenever you would make a d20 roll; they roll instead, and vice-versa. This effect lasts until the end of the encounter. Submitted by Michael E. Applied to recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52)
  • "If you have the Gaul. The Gaul Fall rule is in effect. However, the number shown on the dice (sic) that hits the floor is the number of drinks that must be shared amongst the group." Submitted by @jordanN. Applied to recording session seventeen (Episode 53)
  • "Lowest initiative roll takes a drink." - Submitted by Seth R. Applied to recording session 2 (Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8)
  • Matt Buchholtz drinks a shot whenever Gralford does 20 or more damage in an attack. Applies to recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52).
  • "No Fs Given (or: Poor Azmar should have put his armor on): whenever you roll below a 10 on any d20 skill check and still succeed, (take a) drink." Submitted by @JoshtheValiant. Applies to recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52)
  • "Gub drinks" - Whenever Gub rolls and drinks before a fight or to get into character, everyone drinks the same amount.
  • Chase/wolf - Whenever anyone calls Chase "Wolf" or Wolf "Chase", drink.
  • "Someone call PETA! Drink whenever Pete, LP, or Chase takes damage." Submitted by Matt L. Applied to recording session seventeen (Episode 53)
  • "Super Gaul Fall: Effective regardless of whether the Gaul Fall is in play, whenever one of your dice falls to the floor, choose another player. That player receives +2 to their next attack, and chooses someone to finish their drink." Submitted by @JoeDoff. Applies to recording session sixteen (episodes 49, 50, 51, and 52).
  • "Tubthumping. Whenever you get knocked prone, take a drink. Whenever you stand back up, take another drink." Submitted by Kirk Miller. Applied to recording session seventeen (Episode 53)
  • "Wait - are you using a wooden sword? Anytime Gralford finishes a turn without dealing any damage, the entire party must drink. Bottom's up!" Submitted by @ramblingwaffle. Applied to recording session seventeen (Episode 53)
  • "When a player uses an action point, that player must finish their drink before they can use that action point." Submitted by @winterwolves. Applied to recording session three (Episode 9, Episode 10, Episode 11, Episode 12)
